Invitation: Is English actually a foreign language?

You are here

Bildungsinitiative für das internationale Berlin  Einladung zur Diskussionsveranstaltung 02.03.2015

English is a global language. We believe any school – large or small – should have the freedom to facilitate instruction in English.

The „Bildungsinitiative für das internationale Berlin“ – Educational Initiative for the international Berlin – (BiiB) cordially invites you to take part in a discussion about our vision.

02. March 2015 ∙ 19.00h ∙ Grüner Salon ∙ Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz 2 ∙ 10178 Berlin

Many degree programmes at universities in Germany require preparation in English. Bilingual, German-English as well as internationally oriented schools have expanded their educational programmes in English. Science and economic and political experts use English to facilitate global progress.

Does a culture of multilingualism contribute to global development?

How sensible is a language policy, like the one Berlin Senate has established? Is it fair? Is it progress?

We will be looking for answers to these questions and more. This promises to be an inspirational evening! The language of discussion during the evening will be primarily German, but English speakers are encouraged to join us.

We would be very pleased to welcome you to this discussion.

O Yes, I’ll attend O Yes, I’ll bring somebody along O Sorry, I’ve no time
