President's Letter December 2009

You are here

Dear members and friends, we can look back to a successful year 2009.

The series of functions “world nourishment – world climate – world energy” at the beginning of this year open the AGBC-Berlin new fields and lead interesting guests and members to us.

The event “New Energy and Finance Solutions – A Business Exchange Event” of our member Arvind Dewan in November with a welcome note from the President Udo von Massenbach marked new possibilities of collaborating with Radialclub Berlin.

Updating and administration of the club’s website are being performed on a honorary basis und have consolidated the club’s finances.

AGBC-Berlin e.V. has been acknowledged as a charitable organization this year!

Collaborating with the American Clubs in Hamburg, Paris, London and other European cities opens our members interesting new networks, that are to be used, e.g. with Patrice Vuillard, Vice President American Club Paris and gallery owner in Paris and Berlin.

Do come back to www.agbc-berlin.de and use the possibility – as a member – to promote your activities.

The youth work with school students in Berlin and Brandenburg enjoys great respect and finds a strong support in Berlin’s and Brandenburg’s Senates and Ministries.

We also thank the Initiative „Partner: Schule – Wirtschaft“ for their willingness to inform schools and companies on our competition „Best Business Plan 2010“. The Landesinstitut für Schule und Medien in Berlin-Brandenburg (LISUM) is also informing on our competition.

More than 50 enthusiastic students attended our kick-off for the competition in the “Wandelbar” of Berlin Marriot Hotel and informed themselves competition in these comfortable surroundings with professional power point presentations and in individual conversations (see pictures of the Kick-off-Event).

Last, but not least: John A. Rust has left Berlin and Germany. We thank him for his creative contributions, which you can find on the club’s website. Therefore, the board has decided on its board meeting at the beginning of December to coopt, Ms Jeana Kunkel, Sales Manager at Hard Rock Cafe Berlin as second vice president.

Jeana, besides to her captivating young age, has collected ample experiences in marketing in Berlin – and she is a “native American”. Her name is really “typical” American!

The board has started deciding on the program for 2010. I cordially request that you name topics that you – personally – would love to have considered.

The Annual General Assembly will be held after the annual statements have been received in April 2010 with an editorial change to the constitution suggested by the Vereinsgericht (Associations Court). The board will simultaneously bring the application, to extend the board’s legislative period to two years. We assume this is more practical and less costly.

On behalf of the board, I wish you happy holidays on all festivals of this month – and look forward to meet you at the Galerie Orange of our member Edwin Podchull to the event at open the new year on January 22, 2010 (!! Event !!)

Yours,

Udo v. Massenbach
