One of President Biden’s first initiatives once in office was to rejoin the Paris Agreement, signaling a complete shift in U.S. climate policy. The president went even further with his announcement to convene a climate summit on Earth Day, April 22nd, further reinforcing the administration’s intent focus on this policy issue. This has largely been viewed as a welcome change across the Atlantic. These initiatives will help the U.S. and Europe synergize their efforts and establish real momentum for change in climate policy. This session will explore how transatlantic climate policy will evolve over the coming years and what needs to be done to meet the set targets. It will also look at the possibility for more collaboration with China on this issue and its potential impacts.
